Asian Games: Silver, bronze from bicycle squad

There were no gold in the cycling track event although the national squad contributed one bronze medal, through Josiah Ng, in the finals of the keirin event.

Controversy erupted when gold medal bet, Azizulhasni Awang was stripped of his second placing when he was relegated in the keirin event, whereby, team-mate Josiah who finished fourth was elevated to bronze medal.

The gold was won by Iranian rider Mohammad Daneshvarkhourram while Kazunari Watanabe from Japan, who finished third was awarded the silver medal.

After completing the track events at Incheon International Velodrome, the national team completed their mission with one silver and a bronze medal, each from Josiah and woman keirin rider, Fatehah Mustapa.

The national shooters squad on Thursday sprung a surprise when national shooter Muhammad Ezuan Nasir Khan won a silver in the 50m Rifle Prone men's individual after bagging 208.5 points.

However, Muhammad Ezuan's effort failed to help his teammates Mohd Hadafi Jaafar and Mohammad Zubair Muhammad to secure a respectable position as they only managed 10th place with 1,841.9 points.

In the archery range, Malaysia's 'Robin Hood', Muhammad Zaki Mahzan qualified for the semi-final after a shootout with Iranian Amir Kazempour after both tied at 140.

Muhammad Zaki will battle with Abhishek Varma from India to secure a place in the final.

In badminton, the men and women's doubles both qualified for the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively.
