Malaysia's campaign in the 2015 Denmark Open Super Series Premier Badminton Tournament ended as the only survivor in the first round from the country Datuk Lee Chong Wei lost to Wei Nan of Hong Kong.

In the second-round match, played at the Odense Sports Park in Denmark, the former world number one went down to Wei Nan in straight sets of 21-18, 21-19 after 45 minutes of battle, according to the website of the Badminton World Federation.

The unseeded Chong Wei started off his campaign by stunning eighth seed, Kashyap Parupalli of India, 21-14, 21-15 earlier yesterday.

With the defeat, the 32-year-old Penangite's hope of claiming his third title of the season after bagging back-to-back titles, the United States Open and Canada Open, in June has been dashed.

Wei Nan will face Chong Wei's rival, who is also the current world number one and world champion, Chen Long of China in a quarterfinal later today.

Malaysia's campaign in three other events – men's and women's doubles and also mixed doubles - ended as early as yesterday.
