Faiz Subri's 'wonder goal' nominated for FIFA Puskas Award

The nominees, announced on FIFA's website, included Lionel Messi from Argentina and Neymar from Brazil as among the Top 10 vying for the prestigious award.

In February, Faiz's rocket free kick swerved into the goal, leaving the keeper in awe as Penang thrashed Pahang 4-1 in a Super League match at the Stadium Bandaraya Pulau Pinang.

His free kick from 35 metres out reminded football fans of a similar wonder goal scored by Roberto Carlos against France in 1998.

The voting period started on Monday and will remain open until December 2.

After that, three goals with the most votes will be disclosed.

Another round of voting will open for the Top Three goals and the winner will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony on January 9, 2017 in Zurich, Switzerland.
