After yesterday's poor game, Malaysia's Gavin Kyle Green was back in his game by managing a three-under-par 69 score in the third round of the 2017 CIMB Classic held at the TPC Kuala Lumpur, here today.
Gavin who teed off from the 10th tee, shot four birdies and two bogeys on the back nine and added another birdie in his second-nine to follow-up his 71 and 73, for a total of three day total of 213 stay in tied 44th spot.
"I hit it pretty solid again today. A couple of mistakes, but it was pretty solid overall. Managed to make some putts coming down the stretch and made putts for birdies, especially on 16, 17, 18. I hit a good drive on 18, hit a good second shot, left myself with a pretty easy birdie, almost making eagle," said the current Asian Tour Order of Merit leader.
Gavin, eyeing for the overall champion for the Asian Tour Order of Merit, noted that he needs to be consistent and finish above Scott Hend of Australia, Jazz Janewattananond of Thailand and American David Lipsky.
"If I can get another under par round tomorrow, a solid one, I think I can secure the place but I don't know how Lipsky and Jazz are playing. They've been playing well. It is what it is. Just going to go and try and do my best," he said.
Veteran Danny Chia was playing a bit slow after making three bogeys at the sixth, seventh and eighth to end up with a three-day total of 217 to share 62nd position with six others.
Nicholas Fung slipped to joint 72nd place after securing a three-day total of 220.
