I already have JDT, will not be FAM president - TMJ

He said the president's post should not be held by anyone from a Royal household and those who had connections with state football associations or football clubs.

Instead, the candidate for the post should be those who are neutral to avoid corruption and favouritism.

"I do not agree to be the FAM President because I already have JDT (his own football club). There will be a conflict of interest as I will be biased towards my team," he said in the Johor Southern Tigers's Facebook account, today.

Recently, Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin and the FAM treasury Datuk Seri Mohamad Norza Zakaria had given a briefing about FAM, which among others discussed on the appointment of Tunku Ismail as the chairman of the National team, the head of congress for Football Malaysia Limited Liability Partnership and president of FAM.

Tunku Ismail, however, said he was willing to consider the offers to be the chairman of the National team and the head of FMLLP's congress.

"I will wait to meet Khairy and Datuk Seri Norza again before making my decision," he said.

On speculation of huge revamp in FAM, Tunku Ismail was of the opinion that the president and his executive committee (exco) members need to be dropped and that the new exco members must be those who are able to contribute and work in the best interest of football.

"If they can't, then they should step down and make way for those who can. FAM must be very transparent in their plans and fans must be allowed to address their questions and queries to FAM once in a while.

"The fans deserve to know what is going on in FAM and be kept in the loop on the aims and direction FAM is heading towards," he said.

He also suggested that the national team use a foreign coach with a good background, achievements and track record and that the coach must be allowed to bring in his own team and do whatever he has planned.

"Most importantly, he must be given time to make these changes. FAM has not progressed much over the last 30 years and I believe it's only right for us to give any new coach the appropriate space and time they need, he said.
