Leong, Frenceay crowned Sportsman, Sportwoman of Sabah

Karate exponent Leong Tze Wai and weightlifter Frenceay Titus were crowned as Sabah's Sportsman and Sporstwoman of 2011/2012 at the Sabah Sports Awards ceremony here tonight.

The duo received trophies in their honour from Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman in his speech at the event, said the state government needed to plan and adopt a holistic approach to take the sports industry in Sabah to even greater heights.

He said scientific methods, systematic training and good management must be given priority by the State Sports Council and the Education Ministry to raise the performance bar of athletes.

"It should be that the success of an athlete is the result of the contributions of all the relevant quarters," he said.
