The dismal performance of the Malaysian sepak takraw squad continued at the 27th Myanmar SEA Games when the men's doubles team lost 1-2 to minnows Laos at the Wunna Theikdi Indoor Stadium, here, today.
The loss to Laos was the third in as many matches and saw Malaysia finish at the bottom of Group B with no points to show and by far the most embarrassing finish at any level.
Malaysia had already lost their two previous matches to host Myanmar (0-3) and Indonesia (1-2).
The first pair comprising Ahmad Aizat Mohd Nur Azmi/Izurin Refin beat Laos pair Sitthiphoumma Chaleunphone/Phommavongsa Vixay 21-16, 21-13 to collect the first point.
However, the country's second pair Mohd Hanafiah Dolah/Farhan Adam lost 17-21, 19-21 to Sanavongxay Davoy/Kounlasouth Chakkaphanh while Mohd Muqlis Borhan/Amirul Zazwan Amir also failed to stop the third Laos pair after going down 19-21, 21-16, 17-21 to Khounmuangsene Alounsack/Hatlavongsa Moneta.
Coach Jamaluddin Hassan though disappointed with the result and performance of his boys could not offer an answer for the dismal performance of his boys.
