The national junior badminton squad completed fifth place after sweeping aside Thailand 3-1 in the 5th/6th classification match of the 2015 World Junior Mixed Team Badminton Championships (Suhandinata Cup) in Lima, Peru on Sunday.

Earlier, Malaysia defeated Hong Kong 3-0, while Thailand edged out Denmark 3-1 in the 5th/8th classification match, according to the tournament website;www.bwflima2015.com.

In the match against Thailand, M. Thinaah/Tan Jinn Hwa put Malaysia 1-0 ahead after defeating Pornpawee Chochuwong/Kantaphon Wangcharoen 21-17, 21-15 in the mixed doubles event before Adulrach Namkul levelled the tie after earning a hard-fought 21-16, 22-24 and 21-8 against Malaysian men's singles shuttler, Yeoh Seng Zoe.

The national junior side restored their lead after Aaron Teng Fong Chia/Goh Sze Fei edged Mek Narongrit/Krit Tantianankul;21-15, 21-13 in the men's doubles event before Goh Jin Wei sealed the winning points after scoring 21-13 and 21-16 against Supanida Katethong in the women's singles event.

Meanwhile, reigning champion China continued their domination by lifting the title for a historic 10th time after mauling Indonesia 3-0, which was a repeat of last year's final held in Alor Setar, Kedah.

The 'Great Wall' junior side are the dominant forces in the championship, winning the title nine times -- 2000, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014.
