Malaysian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter, Eugenio Tan is confident that he will win his fight with Indonesia’s Vincent Majid in ONE Fighting Championship’s (ONE FC) match in Jakarta next month.
Tan, when met by Astro Awani said that he is likely to finish off with a knockout towards his opponent in the second round.
The boxer, who is catching up quickly in ground fighting, will face Vincent who is Indonesia’s Judo champion, in the light heavyweight category.
“I train a lot of boxing and also train a lot of ground, but mostly i train boxing. I'm very confident with my hands. I feel I can knockout everyone.
“On a scale of one to 10, I'll say (my confidence level) it’s eight, nine... maybe 10. But I'm very confident. When it’s closer to the match, my scale will go up and up,” he said.
Tan also predicted that his upcoming match will be very different from his previous ones as there will more adrenalin rush due to massive media coverage.
Meanwhile, Tan said he is proud represent the country as he feels that all his hard work and training have been recognised.
However, at the same he also feels the burden of carrying the country’s name because to him it is quite a big responsibility.
Eugenio made his pro-MMA debut in July 2012 and won by TKO late in the second round.
He also climbed quickly up the ladder of the biggest Malaysian amateur MMA tournament, Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts (MIMMA), but subsequently had his dreams dashed due to a highly controversial split decision loss that eliminated him from the competition.
Undeterred by this disappointment, the fearless Tan immediately accepted a second professional fight at Malaysian Fighting Championships and went three hard fought rounds with a Palestinian opponent, losing another hard-fought decision.
He has never been stopped or submitted and with three fights under his belt already, he is gaining valuable experience and improving rapidly ahead of his ONE FC debut.
Tan is also the first MMA fighter to represent Malaysia in the light heavyweight division.
His message to his opponent: "I hope you punch as fast as you eat, because iIm going to punch you down!"
Those who wish to catch Eugenio Tan in action can do so by watching ONE FC's 'Champions and warriors' event at Istora Senayan, Jakarta this 13 September.
