Philippines, Thailand confirmed slot in the semis

The Philippines confirmed their slot in the semi finals of the 2012 AFF Cup after beating Myanmar 2-0 in the final match of Group A at Supachalasai Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand, Friday night.

The group, dubbed 'The Azkals', scored the first goal through striker Philip James Younghusband in the 47th minute, before substitute Angel Guirado scored the second goal in the final minutes of the match.

Meanwhile, in the same group, Thailand which had confirmed its ticket to the semi finals, easily subdued Vietnam, 3-1, at Rajamangala Stadium, Bangkok.

The three wins in a row enabled Thailand to emerge the champion of Group A with nine points while Philippines, which recorded two wins and one loss was runner up with six points.

In the semi finals, the Philippines will play against the winner of Group B on Dec 8 and 12, while Thailand will meet the runner up of Group B on Dec 9 and 13.
