Point deduction rule has long existed - Yusoff Mahadi
Mohd Yusoff said it would be pointless if existing rules are not enforced.
A rule to deduct points from M-League teams that fail to pay their players'' outstanding salaries is not something new but rather in existence already said Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi.
Mohd Yusoff said it would be pointless if existing rules are not enforced.
"It is better not to have any rule, if an existing one is never enforced. The existing rule must be enforced to spruce up the teams and every team must abide by it and prevent the problem from spreading to other teams. Otherwise, the league itself will collapse," he told reporters after opening the annual general meeting of the Malaysian Malays Football Association (PBMM) here today.
For the record, six teams are facing the prospect of point deductions, namely, two Super League teams and four Premier League teams, involving an amount of RM5 million.
Meanwhile, at the AGM, Datuk Kamarulnizam Mohd Sharip retained the post of PBMM vice-president for the 2017-2019 term while Ku Besri Ku Aziz of Perlis, Nudin Awang (Kelantan) and Datuk Ramlan Askolani (Kuala Lumpur) joined the list of vice presidents.
The posts of president and deputy president were won uncontested by Datuk Seri Wan Adnan Wan Mamat and FAM executive committee member Mohd Firdaus Mohamed.
Wan Adnan, who is also People''s Football League (LBR) deputy chairman, filled the vacant president''s post which was held by Ishsam Shahrudin since Aug 4, 2016.
