Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi clinched the men's T36/37/38 long jump gold in style by setting a new Asian Para Games record at the 2014 Asian Para Games here on Monday.
Mohamad Ridzuan broke the record of 5.07 metres by Xu Ran of China to set a new mark at 5.42 metres at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium.
He had earlier won a silver in the men's T36 100m event where he was denied the gold only after a photo-finish separated him and the winner from Malaysia, Mohd Azlan.
With two gold medals won on Monday, the third day of competition, Malaysia are in eighth spot with four gold, seven silver and nine bronze medals while China continued to dominate the proceedings after accumulating 62 gold medals.
On Sunday, the athletics squad was also a major medal contributor with two gold medals (men's T36/37/38 long jump and men's T36 100m), one silver (men's T36 100m) and two bronze medals (women's F11/12 shot put and Women's F44 shot put).
The tenpin bowling squad also put in an excellent performance to contribute two silver medals in the Mixed Team TPB2/3+TPB2/3 and the Mixed Pair TPB8+TPB8 as well as two bronze medals (Mixed Pair TPB1+TPB2/3 and Mixed Pair TPB9/10+TPB 9/10).
Swimming continued to deliver albeit a bronze through Zul Amirul Sidi Abdullah in the 50m S5 backstroke.
However, the wheelchair basketball team failed to qualify for the semi-finals when they lost to Thailand in their fourth match in group B.
On Tuesday, Malaysia will be targeting two gold medals in athletics and men's team tenpin bowling.
The national contingent comprising 135 athletes are competing in 15 of the 25 sports contested.
