Malaysia's gold medal quest continued on a positive note today when the Malaysian contingent added seven gold medals.
The seven gold medals won Monday saw the gold medal tally increase to 15 and Malaysia's position rising to fourth spot, piping Indonesia who were in fourth spot for the past three days.
Apart from 15 gold medals, Malaysia have 19 silver and 23 bronze medals to show after Monday's efforts.
The seven gold medals won Monday came from diving (two), wushu (two) and one each from swimming, snooker and petanque.
The most meaningful gold medal today must be that won by petanque player Muhd Hafizuddin Mat Daud who ended a 14-year gold medal drought in the sport.
The last time Malaysia won a SEA Games gold medal in petanque was in 2001 when Malaysia hosted the games.
Wushu competitions which ended today brought in two gold medals through Loh Jack Chang (Compulsory Taijiquan) and women's Duel Event (Barehand) through Audrey Chan, Chan Lu Yi and Aggie Cheah.
Today, another 40 gold medals will be up for grabs as athletics, golf and tenpin bowling kick off their competition.
