Beijing calls Manila's academic scrutiny a provocation
China has accused the Philippines of an "extremely serious political provocation" after Manila moved to tighten scrutiny of Chinese state-linked academic programmes. The Philippine Defence Department says the measure is necessary due to concerns over Chinese influence in the country's education system.
