SINGAPORE: A Malaysian man was among the 16 more people who died from complications due to COVID-19 infection in Singapore on Oct 21.

The man is a Work Permit holder, according to the republic's Ministry of Health (MOH) in its nightly data update.

The remaining 15 cases, the ministry said 11 were male Singaporeans and Permanent Residents and four were female Singaporeans.

All the cases were aged between 61 and 93 years, said MOH.

Among them, the ministry said eight had been unvaccinated against COVID-19, one had been partially vaccinated and seven had been vaccinated.

MOH said 15 of them had various underlying medical conditions, while a vaccinated case had no known medical conditions. With the new cases, the republic recorded a total of 280 deaths so far.

Singapore also reported 3,439 new daily cases of COVID-19 infection on Thursday, thus bringing the total caseload to 162,026.

From the total, 2,937 were detected in the community, 500 in the migrant worker dormitories and two imported cases.

As of Oct 20, 84 per cent of the population here had completed their full regimen/ received two doses of COVID-19 vaccines, and 85 per cent had received at least one dose.

In its last update, the republic's Multi-Ministerial Taskforce said the Stabilisation Phase will be extended for another month through November 21 as more time is needed to stabilise the continuing pressures on its healthcare system.
