Coming soon: Astro AWANI's 'Tribute to GLCs'

Government-linked companies or GLCs have a significant presence in the local corporate sector. In comparison from the neighbouring countries, Malaysia's GLCs are rated among the most extensive and powerful in terms of capitalisation, market presence and socio-political directive.

GLCs reportedly command 36 percent and 54 percent of the market capitalisation of Bursa Malaysia and the FBM Kuala Lumpur Composite Index respectively (FBM KLCI).

The Malaysian government controls GLCs through its government-linked investment companies (GLICs) with powerful investment arms including Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Permodalan Nasional Berhad.

And for the past decade, GLCs continue to serve key roles in providing services, generating profits for GLICs and other stakeholders, serving as training grounds for managers, directors and entrepreneurs via the employment they offer, and by providing economic linkages through procurement and subcontracting.

Realising this decade-long journey of GLCs and its significant role in nation building, especially its contribution and support towards the country’s economic growth, Astro AWANI embarks on a talk show TV programme, paying homage to these GLCs.

"Tribute to GLCs" is a business programme dedicated to exploring the success of GLCs and showcasing their achievements.

This signature 30-minute English TV programme will be hosted by Rosmanizam Dali, an established and familiar face of business news in the country.

Every week, Rosmanizam will anchor and engage with notable guests in a lively and thought-provoking conversation, focusing on the transformation of GLCs towards building and strengthening the nation's economic growth.

With the first episode premiering on Nov 2, 'Tribute to GLCs' will uphold the great contribution of GLCs and share with viewers the success stories, the challenges and the efforts to bringing the nation's economy soaring to greater heights.
