Low financial literacy among Malaysians, says financial planner
Founder of Hijrah Wealth Managers Hajah Rohani Mohd Shahir said the level of financial literacy among Malaysians are low.
She said on a scale of one to ten, the level is below five on average after taking into account the people in both rural and urban areas.
"Maybe we really to get more people involved. It has to reach out to the masses and not just circle around people with money," said Rohani.
She said seminars have been conducted in the rural areas and according to her the response is quite pathetic.
Meanwhile, Imoney.my founder Lee Ching Wei feels that the level of financial literacy among Malaysians is average.
"But it's not at the level that we should be," he said.
However, Lee believed that there is a lot of room for improvement for Malaysians to increase their level of financial literacy.
Rohani and Lee spoke to Astro AWANI in a special episode of Agenda Awani entitled 'Pre Budget 2014: Managing Debts & Investment for Households'.
