Malaysia has indicated its intention to offer more training opportunities for African Civil Aviation Commission (Afcac) member states.

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, who represented the country at the 25th Afcac Plenary Session in Egypt earlier this week, said they would include on-site training for aerodrome certification, runway safety and aviation security.

"Malaysia looks forward to sharing our experience in the field of aviation with our counterparts in Afcac through these courses," he said in a statement Wednesday.

The minister noted that Afcac and Malaysia had a longstanding history of successful partnerships, the latter having provided various aviation training courses for participants from 19 African countries over the years.

"This is to answer the need for highly-skilled human capital as we prepare for the challenging task of managing global civil aviation sector's growth, safely and efficiently," he said.

The statement mentioned that Malaysia had 25 airports, of which six were international airports that were Safety Management System certified.
