Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will issue a full statement next week on the country's economic situation.
"I will come out with a statement next week," he told reporters in response to a question on the economy, budget and fiscal targets in view of declining global oil prices and floods that hit the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
He was speaking to reporters after receiving flood relief assistance from Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Huang Huikang.
Among the items donated included 2,950 units of tents, 220 generator sets, 400 water pumps (1.1 kilowatt capacity), 45 roll water hoses and 60 water purification sets (500 litres per hour capacity).
Present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Muhyiddin Yassin, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Home Minister Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa.
Fuel price has dropped twice since December last year after the retail price for RON95 petrol and diesel was fixed according to a managed float method.
Last Dec 1, the retail price of RON97 petrol has been reduced by nine sen per litre to RM2.46 per litre, while the retail price of RON95 petrol by four sen per litre to RM2.26 per litre.
On Jan 1 this year, the price for RON95 and RON97 petrol went down 35 sen, while diesel price went down by 30 sen, making the new price for RON95, RM1.91 sen and the new price for RON97, RM2.11 sen.
