I can reconcile with Muhyiddin but ... - Tun Mahathir

KUALA LUMPUR:“If the approach is right, it is not impossible to reconcile with the Prime Minister,” admitted Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on his relationship with Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
In an ‘Exclusive With Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’ interview on Astro AWANI tonight, the former prime minister said, however, he would agree to work together again if certain conditions were met.
He added that there were attempts by certain parties to meet and negotiate with him, but Dr Mahathir said, he still refused to do so because there were some things that he thought were not right, including working with UMNO leaders who had been found guilty.
"(Attempts to persuade me) have been made, but I said let it be according to the conditions. If I just go in, nothing will happen. They want to highlight me as joining them, that's not the way. I found a lot things not right.
“I found that the coalition has UMNO, with all six criminals in it. So, I do not want to get support from these six people. We must remember that even if we win, these six people, if they go elsewhere, the government will fall,” he added.
On July 29, the High Court convicted Najib of all seven charges involving RM42 million of SRC International Sdn Bhd funds and sentenced him to 12 years in prison and a fine of RM210 million.
High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali made the decision after finding that the prosecution had succeeded in proving the case in all charges against the former prime minister.
However, Mohd Nazlan agreed that the sentence be postponed until the appeal process is completed at the next stage.
In the meantime, Dr Mahathir opined that the Perikatan Nasional government was too weak, and could not carry out its duties effectively due to the razor thin support of the Members of the Dewan Rakyat.
"This government is too weak. It has the majority of only one or two people. So, when we are weak, we cannot afford to carry out the task perfectly and successfully.
“Before, when I was the Prime Minister, I had two-thirds behind me. (Currently) there are just two people. One person with a stomach ache, two people have stomach aches, it's finished," he added.
