2 Indonesians claim trial to cheating 15 people of RM291,900
Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof denied bail for Salim and Ajiswar and set March 15 for mention of the case.
Two Indonesian men pleaded not guilty in the magistrate's court Thursday to cheating 15 people over the sale of fake ruby stones for RM291,900, between 2012 and early this year.
Salim, 36, and Ajiswar, 44, were jointly charged with 15 counts of deceiving the victims into believing they sold genuine ruby stones, prompting them to hand over the money amounting to between RM400 and RM75,000.
The odd-job workers from Tanjung Pinang, Indonesia were alleged to have committed the offence at several locations in the city and Simpang Renggam here, between November 2012 and Jan 18 this year.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Norafiah Saini urged the court not to offer bail to the accused as they had been on the police 'wanted list' since 2012.
Magistrate Nuruhuda Mohd Yusof denied bail for Salim and Ajiswar and set March 15 for mention of the case.
