285 flood victims evacuated in Baling this morning

The flood situation in the district has worsened with 285 individuals from 69 families moved to nine relief centres this morning compared with 185 people from 52 families last night.

Baling Welfare Department officer Syamsul Izrin Isahak, when contacted by Bernama, said among the worst affected areas are Kampung Padang Lalang, Kampung Weng, Kampung Baru Siong, Kampung Tanjung Pari, Kampung Banggol Derum, Kampung Lahar, Kampung Bukit Sebelah and Kampung Sini Ketengga.

All victims are housed in Surau Weng Hall, Kampung Baru Siong Hall, Kampung Tanjung Pari Risda Hall, Surau Kampung Sri Ketengga, Banggol Derom Hall, Batu 60 UMNO Hall, people-friendly homes, Kampung Lahar mosque and Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Lalang Hall.

Syamsul Izrin said the department and other government agencies provided various assistance to the victims in evacuation centres, including food and drinks.
