A baby girl was found abandoned in a mosque in Merang here yesterday.
Setiu district police chief DSP Ab Rahman Raja Mohamed said Muhamad Faudzan Isa, 37, an electrician and his family stopped by at the mosque to perform Zohor prayers at 4pm when the saw a cloth-wrapped package in the praying area.
"Suspicious with the package, he opened it and found the baby girl inside," he told Bernama today.
Ab Rahman said the man then took the baby, believed to be two-day-old, to Penarik police station before she was referred to Setiu Hospital for further examination.
He said police were in the midst of tracking down the baby's parents.
