Abu Ammar Mustaqim Abu Bakar, the man with the unusual swollen arm in a photo that went viral on social media last week, passed away this morning.
Ammar, as he was fondly known, was rushed to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh, Perak last night by his family, after his health began deteriorating, BH Online reported.
The 22-year-old, a mechanical engineering graduate of Ungku Omar Polytechnic in Ipoh, was diagnosed with Stage 4 bone cancer after he took a fall while he was playing futsal four months ago.
Astro AWANI had reported on Ammar's story just last week, and how his friends had established a fund to help him get the best treatment for his illness.
He has been laid to rest at his hometown in Kampung Bukit Tong, Setiu, Terengganu.
Meanwhile, in a Bernama report, Ammar's father, Abu Bakar Ali, requested members of the public who wished to make donations, to not do so since his son has passed on.
