Case of woman charged with supporting terrorist group moved to High Court

Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin allowed the case to be moved to the High Court following an application by the prosecution to do so.

Nor Izatul Farahirah Ismail, 36, a single mother, was charged with being in possession of a black headband with Jawi scripts reading 'Lailahailallah Muhammad Rasulullah' and 'Allah Rasul Muhammad'.

The mother of one was charged with committing the offence at an apartment at Blok A2-0-2, Jalan Kampung Pandan, Desa Pandan, here at 11.50am on May 19.

She was charged under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code which provides for jail up to seven years or fine and can also lose rights to the items, if convicted.

In a separate court, Magistrate Zulfinaz Abaz set Aug 16 for re-mention of the woman's case regarding possession of two identity cards of other individuals, in the name of Aisyah Marcella Lee Abdullah and Calysta Ying.

Nor Izatul Farahirah was charged with committing the offence at the same place, date and time under Rule 25(1)(e) National Registration Regulations 1990 which provides for jail of not more than three years or fine not exceeding RM20,000 or both, if convicted.

Meanwhile, before Sessions Court judge Zulqarnain Hassan, the court set the same re-mention date against the same accused on a charge of forging the identity cards of the two individuals.

She was also charged with committing this offence at the same place, date and time under Section 467 of the Penal Code and is liable to be jailed up to 20 years and can be fined, if convicted.
