Cheat sheet: Rolls Royce changed 18 things on the Ghost Series II that you need to know

The changes are subtle so it may not be apparent at first. We’ve conveniently listed down XX things done to the Rolls Royce Ghost to make it Ghost Series II. By Chris Ng

But first, here’s the one thing that remained the same and it is for the better. The Ghost Series II still has the 48-valved V12 engine under its long bonnet. The engine produces 563bhp at 5,250rpm and 780Nm at 1,500rpm. The Ghost II stops the watch at 4.9 seconds when it hits 100kph and hits a governed maximum speed of 250kph. Now, here are the 18 things that changed.

On the outside:

1. The Spirit of Ecstasy is angled forward by seven-degrees

2. Bonnet now features a ‘wake channel’ that is seemingly generated from the Spirit of Ecstasy

3. Bumpers are wider and the grille is lifted higher

4. Waft line leans further forward

5. Headlights are redesigned; now framed by daytime running lights

On the inside:

6. Front seats re-designed to include electronically-adjustable thigh support and depth adjustment

7. Rear seats are subtly tilted towards each other to make talking with your fellow passenger easier

8. Clock face and instrument dials are enhanced with chromed centres, three-dimensional chrome surrounds and polished metal chaplets

9. Same high-grade Full Grain Leather used in the Phantom, except that it is processed for an additional four hours to accentuate the natural grain structure of the leather; option to wrap the A and C pillars in the same skin

10. 18 speakers and 2 subwoofers are engineered in-house for that extra level of bespoke-ness

11. Bespoke customization extended to two new, exquisitely crafted crossband veneers: Paldao and Walnut Burr Crossband

Tech upgrades:

12. Heads-Up Display now integrates Night Vision, which in turn to also recognise animal and pedestrians

13. Electronic light reflectors move in response to steering wheel turns

14. New anti-glare technology deflects lights of cars that approaches in the opposing direction

15. Voice control recognises full sentences rather than two-word commands

16. Ghost Series II, with the aid of the GPS, will always select the right gear when negotiating turns, motorway exits and roundabouts. This technology is called Satellite Aided Transmission

Mechanical enhancements:

17. Front and rear struts are re-engineered, new steering gear and adjusted dampers increase car’s cornering ability when Dynamic Driving Package is specified

18. New hydraulic rear-axle bearings improve ride quality and rear stability. Vibration and harshness is also reduced especially for cars equipped with 21-inch wheels
