A couple was injured when part of the roof, ceiling and a wall of a room on the top floor of a six-storey hotel in the Port Dickson area collapsed early today, according to Fire and Rescue authorities.

Port Dickson Fire and Rescue Zone chief Zamhuri Zainnordin said the incident happened at 4.22 am and the 52-year-old man, his 51-year-old wife and their 27-year-old daughter were rudely awakened from their sleep. The daughter was unhurt.

"Part of the roof, ceiling and a wall of the hotel collapsed. Only one room of the hotel was affected," he said to Bernama when contacted.

It is learnt that some pieces of concrete fell onto a car at the hotel parking lot.

Zamhuri said the building structure was unaffected and that they were investigating the cause of the incident.

"The couple and their daughter were sent to the Port Dickson Hospital for treatment and observation," he said, adding that people were barred from going to the sixth floor.
