COVID-19: 2,451 new cases, active cases exceed 26,000

KUALA LUMPUR:Malaysia continues to record an alarming number of new COVID-19 cases, with another 2,451 reported today.

This brings the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Malaysia to 133,559, with the current active cases being 26,185.

Director-General of Health Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today said that out of the total number of new cases, there were five cases of imports infected from abroad.

For domestic transmission cases, 1,858 cases involved Malaysian citizens and 588 cases were non-citizens.

Selangor still reported the highest new daily cases with 564 cases, followed by Sabah with 409 and Negeri Sembilan with 351 cases.

There was an increase of five cases of COVID-19 deaths today, bringing the cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia to 542.

Five new clusters were reported today involving the states of Johor, Penang, Sarawak, Melaka and Terengganu.
