After living with only one hand for eight years, a boy from Sungai Nibong Kecil, Bayan Lepas near here this week was all smiles when he finally completed his pair.
Muhammad Muqri Mifzal Rhemi Rizal, eight, who was born without fingers on his left hand can now use his new bionic (mechanical) limb to enjoy activities with his friends at school, thanks to Sujana Mohd Rejab, 47.
Sujana, a former English teacher who is an active member of international association inABLE to help disabled people, said she always loved kids, and used to think of how to bring confidence back to children like Muhammad Muqri.
Muhammad Muqri's father Rhemi Rizal, 40, recalled that when his son was born with the hand disability, it was difficult for him to digest the news, but with the support from family members, they managed to overcome the problem.
Rhemi Rizal was also thankful to Sujana, who had created and donated the bionic hand to his son, allowing the boy lead a more complete life.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Muqri was ecstatic with his new hand and could not wait to go to school to show it to his friends.
"I have a new hand now, after this I can play ball, play with my friends," he said with a grin showing his ball playing skills with his new limb.
Sujana, who had previously donated a bionic hand to a seven-year-old girl Ainaa Amanda Shahzali, said she agreed to help the boy when she was contacted by his parents, and said the cost to make the bionic limb did not cost more than RM100, requiring around 20 hours to be made using a 3D printing machine.
