An elderly man who went missing from his residence three weeks ago returned home safely early Monday, according to police.
Zainal Abidin Hussin, 64 was reported missing July 19 after he ventured into the woods alone.
Chieftain of Kampung Sauk, Mohamed Zaki Jidin said local police verified Zainal had returned safely home.
Mohamed Zaki said the villagers were relieved to learn about the safe return although the cause of his disappearance remained unknown.
“After news about his disappearance broke, speculations were rife about multiple sightings at various locations but nothing could be verified so I can’t really tell where and how he was found,” said Mohamed Zaki.
“I’m just so relieved that Zainal has returned home. I knew he was safe all along,” he added.
“I hope he will recover soon. Let’s give him some space and time to him and the family to heal.
