Fifth PM Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi passes away
Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, passed away at 7:10 p.m. at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, passed away at 7:10 p.m. at the National Heart Institute (IJN) in Kuala Lumpur.
The news was confirmed by politician and former cabinet minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also the late leader’s son-in-law, via his Instagram account a short while ago.
Tun Abdullah became the fifth Prime Minister on October 31, 2003, following the resignation of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He led the country for six years before stepping down himself, and was succeeded by his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, on April 2, 2009.
Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is survived by his wife, Tun Jeanne Abdullah, and four children.
He held a Bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies, which he obtained in 1964.
