Haze: Jakim calls mosques, surau to hold "solat hajat"

The Islamic Development Department (Jakim) has called on all mosques and surau to perform the "Solat Hajat" (prayer of need) for the haze shrouding the country to not prolong.

Its director-general, Datuk Othman Mustapha, in a statement here today, suggested the prayer to be held after the Friday prayer tomorrow.

He said the prayer would be held at the National Mosque, Putra Mosque, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque and all mosques under the Federal Territory Religious Department.

He called for cooperation of the Islamic Religious Department and Islamic Religious Councils in all states to also hold the "solat hajat" for the same purpose and at the same time at mosques and surau under their respective supervision.
