KUALA LUMPUR: KUALA LUMPUR Dec 5 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry will always work together with the leadership of the new Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to strengthen the aspects of security and public order.
Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz said such efforts were made through the setting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI), especially in strengthening border control from foreign intrusion, in line with its role and function.
He said as pioneers in the aspect of security and public order, the ministry will always ensure service delivery is excellent and with integrity, in line with the law and regulations.
"The Home Ministry, as well as the various departments and agencies under it, congratulate Senator Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail on his appointment as Home Minister and welcome his leadership and will always cooperate and support him in achieving the government's goal of fulfilling the people's expectations," he said in a statement yesterday.
He added that the ministry would prioritise maintenance of facilities and personnel welfare in addition to continuing efforts to improve efficient governance and curb drug use, in line with the new leadership's commitment.
"Therefore, all ministry, department and agency personnel will work as a team, united to achieve the objectives set to ensure that the country's agenda can be fully implemented," he said.
Today, Saifuddin Nasution was reported to have said that he was determined to do his best to undertake his duties and ensure that the police force and other agencies under his ministry played more proactive roles.
He said he would focus on efforts to resolve issues he viewed could be settled immediately, and would create a more conducive workplace environment, adding that he would clock in as Home Minister at his office in Putrajaya today.
Saifuddin Nasution was appointed as Home Minister in the Unity Government Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
