The full moon on Monday was the largest ever seen since 1948 as the satellite reaches its closest point to Earth to form what is known as a supermoon.

At exactly 1352 GMT on Monday, the moon became its fullest at the same time as it makes its closest pass to Earth, causing it to appear unusually large, according to astronomers.

The rare proximity of Monday's "spectacular supermoon" to Earth means it will appear 30-per-cent brighter and 14-per-cent bigger as it reaches just 356,509 kilometres from Earth, according to NASA.

Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Yunos was called to the Pandan Indah Police station to have his statement recorded regarding the incident in a shopping mall where he was punched and left with a bloodied nose.

It is understood that the statement was also regarding his intention to seek revenge on the Nov 13 incident.

An Egyptian appeals court has overturned a death sentence handed down against ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in one of four trials since his 2013 overthrow, a judicial official said.

The Court of Cassation ordered that Morsi be retried on the charges of taking part in prison breaks and violence against policemen during the 2011 uprising which toppled longtime president Hosni Mubarak.

Thursday, Nov 17:

A total of 4,896 pupils nationwide scored straight A's in the 2016 Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR).

Education director Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said the figure was 1.11 per cent of the total 440, 782 candidates who sat for the examination this year.

He said the results this year cannot be compared to the previous years as this year's examination was set according to a new format.

Friday, Nov 18:

On the eve of Bersih 5 rally, several arrests were made by the authorities on Friday.

Bersih's Maria Chin Abdullah and secretariat manager Mandeep Singh, Seremban MP Anthony Loke and student activist Luqman Nur Hakim Zul Razali were among those picked up for questioning.

Saturday, Nov 19:

Activist Hishamuddin Rais was arrested at Bangsar today after delivering a speech to Bersih participants who have gathered there.

He was later taken away in a police car.

Bersih 5: Peaceful end, no drama

The street protest to demand for clean elections and government, Bersih 5, ended at 6pm on Saturday after a peaceful march that saw parts of Kuala Lumpur enveloped in yellow shirts.

Several participants waited since last night and stayed at hotels nearby meeting points just to be able to kick off the rally early in the morning.

Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said the party will take action against UMNO members who participate in the Red Shirts rally held yesterday.

The rally was held as a counter rally to Bersih 5.0.

Tengku Adnan said he himself will look at the videos and footage available on the protesters before listing their names.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said he finds that Malaysians have become fed up with the Bersih electoral reform group or feel that its rallies do not bring any benefit to the country.
