Imam Of Medina's Nabawi Mosque On Visit To Malaysia

The imam and khatib (sermon reader) of Medina's famed Nabawi Mosque in Saudi Arabia will be in Malaysia from Friday until May 4 as a guest of the Malaysian government.

Director-general of the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim), Datuk Othman Mustapha said in a statement today that Fadhilatul Al-Syeikh Solah would be at several places during his visit, including the As-Syakirin Mosque, KLCC this Saturday to lead the zohor prayers.

He will lead Friday prayers and deliver a religious talk at the National Mosque, here, on April 26 and at Putra Mosque in Putrajaya on May 3.

Fadhilatul Al-Syeikh Solah is also scheduled to have an audience with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, besides meeting the members of the Muzakarah (Conference) of the Fatwa Council on Religious Affairs in Malaysia.

On April 24, Fadhilatul Al-Syeikh Solah is to deliver an executive talk at the International Islamic University Malaysia.

"We hope his presence in Malaysia could further strengthen relations between the Malaysian and Saudi Arabian governments pertaining to Islamic affairs," said Othman.

Fadhilatul Al-Syeikh Solah has since 1999, been the imam and khatib of the Nabawi Mosque, also known as the Prophet's Mosque and the second holiest site in Islam. He is also the Medina Supreme Court judge.
