Keramat tahfiz fire: Two survivors to be discharged from hospital tomorrow

Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) director Datuk Sr Zaininah Mohd Zain said Indra Kurniawan Mohd Amirul and Zunnun Misri Nasrun, both 12, had shown positive reactions to the treatment.

"Both of them sustained burns over 20 to 30 percent of their bodies. After undergoing treatment for nearly a month, they are almost fully recovered from their physical wounds," she told reporters when met at the hospital here today.

Another survivor, Muhammad Shahir Sharifuddin, 11, who is still receiving treatment at the paediatric ward, is expected to be discharged later this month.

"For Muhammad Shahir, his injury was more severe as he also sustained a bone fracture, but he is recovering well," she said.

Mentally and emotionally, Dr Zaininah said the three students had been given psychological treatment to overcome their trauma and resume their normal lives.

"They were badly traumatised and had been having nightmares after the incident, but with the continuous and undivided support from their families, they can now smile and talk to other people," she said.
