MAHB moves a step closer to creating airport city, KLIA Aeropolis

The signing ceremony of the MoU and partnership agreement took place during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017 in Langkawi.

The MoU with Invest Selangor, an investment promotion agency wholly owned by the Selangor government, demonstrates both parties commitment to promote and market the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Aeropolis and Subang Aerospace Park as an ASEAN regional aerospace hub.

In a statement today, MAHB said aerospace was one of the four key economic areas identified by Invest Selangor to stimulate Selangor's economy.

Meanwhile, the partnership agreement between MAHB and TCR, a Belgian-based ground support equipment (GSE) service provider, provides the latter a platform to offer its facilities at the KLIA, which would also serve as TCR Asia Pacific headquarters.

TCR, at the same time would act as the foundation for its Asia-Pacific expansion, with projects in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Japan.

"This partnership will potentially contribute to improve service levels and cost savings for ground handling players and airlines," it said.

The MoU was signed by MAHB Managing Director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali on behalf of MAHB, while Invest Selangor was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Hasan Azhari Idris.

TCR Solution was represented by its Managing Director for Asia Pacific, Jason Watson and its Business Development Manager for Asia Pacific Scott Munro at the signing of the partnership agreement.
