Man detained in Johor tuition centre abuse
The case is being investigated under the Child Act 2001.
Johor police have detained a 26-year-old man to assist in the investigation of an abuse case by a tuition teacher which resulted in second-degree burns on the boy’s buttocks
The suspect is an assistant to the teacher who is believed to have abused the boy at a tuition centre in Skudai, Johor.
Johor Baru Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Taib Ahmad said police are currently hot on pursuit of the suspect and several other teachers from the tution centre.
The case is being investigated under the Child Act 2001.
According to the report, the boy was caned by the teacher until severe marks appeared on his buttocks. The teacher then tried to erase the wounds by applying a heated wok, glass and plastic.
The boy suffered second degree burns as a result of that.
The incident came to light when the boy ran away from the centre and sought help from a neighbour.
The boy's sister then took him to the clinic before being referred to Sultanah Aminah Hospital. She lodged a police report last night.
