Matta Fair offers 'halal' tourism to Japan
The ‘Halal’ tourism to Japan is the most sought after offer at the Matta Fair 2013 held at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC), held from March 15 to 17. According to Matta president Datuk Mohd Khalid Harun this is the first time ‘halal’ tour packages was offered by a non-Muslim country. Khalid said that Malaysia is famous among Muslim travelers from around the world, which had attracted Japan to introduce this package. The Matta Fair also offers holiday packages within Malaysia and overseas at affordable prices. Among the attractive offer includes Etihad Airways return journey to London worth RM 850. Matta Fair is targeting sales valued at RM90 million, which is lower than last year which was RM120 million due to the upcoming elections. This is because; tourists will be planning their vacation carefully, depending on the date of the election. About 35 percent from the 300 exhibitors are offering packages within Malaysia. The fair was launched by Tourism Ministry secretary-general Datuk Dr Ong Hong Peng , who represented Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen.
