A total of 3,522 civil servants were investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) between 2009 and October this year, the Dewan Negara was told today.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said a total of 1,515 civilians, 1,222 private employees and 100 politicians were also investigated by MACC during the same period.
"This statistic is enough to show our seriousness in taking action against those involved in corruption.
"However, we still hope the society will continue to channel information from time to time," he said in response to a questions from Senator Datuk Boon Som Inong today.
To a supplementary question from Senator To' Puan Zaitun Mat Amin, Shahidan said the government viewed seriously issue on corruption and action would be taken against those involved.
"Generally, the people are watching us and every offence reported by the society has to be investigated and action has to be taken against the offenders," he added.
