Nazir: I stand for freedom of opinion, expression
NAZIR: I stand for the freedom of opinion, freedom of expression.
"It is not for those people (staff of The Edge Weekly and The Edge Financial Daily)...I stand for the freedom of opinion, freedom of expression. That's all."
CIMB Group chairman Datuk Seri Nazir Razak, the youngest brother of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said this when commenting on his recent post in his social media account, Instagram over the suspension of the publishing permit of The Edge Weekly and The Edge Financial Daily.
"This (my stance) is not defending anyone...this is the principle of freedom of the media," he said.
Speaking to the media at the Aidilfitri open house held by former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi here today, he said everything was still alright within his family.
"I also have private conversations with my brother (Najib) but I will not share with you, lah...," added Nazir.
The Edge is a pillar of our business community- big role in keeping us informed, honest & competitive. Recent 1MDB coverage seem outstanding but if there were flaws then correct them or take legal recourse. I condemn the suspension & my thoughts go to all affected staff.
