"My life is more calm now and I'm happy living my life as a Muslim. I can't wait to fast during this coming Ramadan," said Nur Nina Farisha Woo Abdullah.
The 19-year-old teenager had recently converted to Islam during a lecture by international preacher Dr Zakir Abdul Karim Naik in Kemaman.
The Diploma in Mechanical Engineering student at Ranaco College, Kemaman, said she had fasted with her friends in 2014 and hoped she could perform the religious obligation well this year.
"I'm attending religious classes held by the college to study the basis of the 'fardu ain' and the Al-Quran...and I'm also getting comfortable with wearing hijab (headscarf).
"I'm lucky to have many college friends who are ready to help me understand Islam and answer whatever questions related to the religion," she told reporters when met at the official residence of Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman here.
Earlier, Nur Nina Farisha received her Muslim conversion accreditation card from Ahmad Razif's wife Toh Puan Seri Halina Zakaria.
Present were Terengganu Religious Affairs and Malay Custom Council (Maidam) commissioner, Datuk Omar Musa, and Ranaco Education & Training Institute Sdn Bhd CEO, Ahmad Firdhaus Ramlan.
At the event, she also received a special contribution of RM1,000 from Maidam.
