No dress code for public when dealing with government offices
It said the department head could advise the public to dress appropriately.
The government has not set any specific dress code for the public when dealing with government offices.
The Prime Minister's Department, in a written reply to a question from Datuk Dr Marcus Mojigoh (BN-Putatan) said only civil servants were subjected to dress code, issued from time to time.
"The public can wear appropriate clothing which is in line with the customs and eastern values when dealing with government offices.
"The government will still attend to those who dress inappropriately," it said.
Marcus had wanted to know whether the government had set a dress code for the public when dealing with government offices, the kind of action to be taken if the dress code was violated and people's acceptance towards the matter.
It said the department head could advise the public to dress appropriately.
