North Korean embassy counsellor keeps mum over Ri Jong Chol deportation

North Korean embassy counsellor (consulate and administration) in Malaysia, Kim Yu-Song refused to comment on the deportation of its citizen, Ri Jong Chol, one of the suspect linked to the murder of Kim Jong Nam.

Yu-Song was present at the Putrajaya Immigration Department believed to facilitate deportation procedures of Jong Chol.

He repeatedly replied, “no comment,” when asked about the details of his meeting with Jong Chol. He also refused to share details on Jong Chol’s return to his home country. FOLLOW OUR LIVE UPDATES HERE

Local and international media personnel, who have been at the immigration department since this morning, were also curious if the North Korea embassy would be issuing a statement concerning the deportation.

Yu-Song replied, “We are too busy right.” The media personnel tailed him and continued bombarding him with questions but to no avail.

Yu-Song arrived at the Immigration at around 10am before he was seen exiting the building around two hours later.

Jong-chol, 47, was brought to the Immigration Department from the Sepang police headquarters this morning after his remand period ended.

Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohamed Apandi Ali had said yesterday that Jong-Chol was released due to insufficient evidence to charge him for the murder of Jong-Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader, Kim Jong-Un.
