Number of flood victims in Baling rises to 608

The number of flood victims who were evacuated to relief centres in the district this afternoon rose to 608 people from 106 families today, compared to 349 victims from 87 families yesterday.

Baling Social Welfare Department officer Syamsul Izrin Isahak, when contacted here, said the victims are housed at Dewan Baru Hall, Banggol Derum Hall, Rakan Muda Complex, Gua Reban Kindergarten, Kampung Charok Sikin Hall, Kampung Lahar Hall and Kampung Bawah Gunung Hall.

He said the Rakan Muda Complex sheltered the highest number of victims at 200 people, followed by Kampung Bawah Gunung (100), Baru Bongor Hall (90), Gua Reban Kindergarten (80), Banggol Derum Hall (76), Kampung Lahar Hall (57), and Charok Sikin Hall(5).

The department said they also distributed essential items to the affected victims in the evacuation centres such as food, drinks, mats and matresses.
