HULU SELANGOR: The Sub Aquatic Forensic Unit of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) recovered a smartphone believed to be linked to the murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, 25, after conducting a search operation in a drain within an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sri Kledang.
A check by Bernama at the scene found that the police recovered the smartphone at 12.21 pm after an hour-long operation.
Earlier, police and the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) personnel arrived at the scene around 9.50 am to search for evidence.
Members of the Kuala Kubu Bharu Fire and Rescue Station (BPP), assisted by Felda Gedangsa volunteer firefighters, were observed pumping water from the drain before the Sub Aquatic Forensic Unit commenced their search.
The suspect in the murder case of a former Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) graduate, was also brought to the scene today to provide a demonstration of the area around the drain for about five minutes.
Nur Farah Kartini's body was discovered in an oil palm plantation area in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, around 6 pm on Monday.
She had been reported missing since July 10 after delivering a rental car to a customer.
Subsequently, a 26-year-old man, also a policeman stationed in Perak, was arrested and remanded for seven days until July 22 to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
