Policeman claims trial to molesting woman

A policeman pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate Court here today to two counts of molesting a woman in March.
On the first count, Azmi Nik, 43, is alleged to have hugged the 19-year-old woman from behind at a house in Pantai Kuala Sanglang, Simpang Empat, at around 9 am on March 16.
The charge under Section 354 of the Penal Code provides for imprisonment of up to 10 years and fine or whipping, upon conviction.
On the second charge, Azmi is alleged to have insulted the modesty of the victim by showing a pornographic video to her at the same time, place and date.
The charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code provides for a maximum jail term of five years, or with a fine, or both, if convicted.
The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Mohd Farhan Aliff Ahmad.
Magistrate Mohd Azhar Hamzah set bail at RM2,500 with one surety and set June 15 for the remention of the case.
