The Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) want the government to act firmly, including enforcing existing laws, to thwart efforts to topple the government via undemocratic means.
Mubarak said it would cooperate and support in a lawful way, any move taken by any organisation, to quash such an attempt.
"Mubarak pledge to continue upholding the leadership of the existing government headed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak," according to the resolution taken by the two-day Mubarak General Assembly which ended here today.
Mubarak drew attention that there was a continuous effort by certain quarters to influence foreign powers and international media to interfere in the affairs of the nation which could also adversely affect the economy.
The conference also took note and debated, among others, the stubbornness of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and certain quarters to topple the government headed by Najib via undemocratic means as well as attempt to influence the royalty. -- BERNAMA
