A report on the toll rates hike which went viral on the social media and social messaging apps was a hoax, said the Works Ministry.

In a statement Friday night, the ministry said the report, viralled by irresponsible parties, was old news and had been recycled.

"This is clear when the report quoted the wrong date and day while claiming that the toll hike allegedly would be effective on Monday, Nov 16, whereas Nov 16, 2016 would fall on Wednesday," said the statement.

The ministry added that, so far there had yet to be any decision on the toll rates hike. -- Bernama
