Saarani sworn-in as 14th Perak MB

KUALA KANGSAR:Datuk Saarani Mohamad today was sworn in as the 14th Menteri Besar of Perak before the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah.

The Kota Tampan State Assemblyman (ADUN) received a letter of appointment from Sultan Nazrin, and then took the oath of office before him at Istana Iskandariah here.

He signed the letter of appointment witnessed by the Chief Justice of the Ipoh High Court, Datuk Hisham Hashim.

Sultan Nazrin agreed to appoint Saarani as menteri besar after he gained the trust of most State Assemblymen (ADUN) and that it is according to Article XVI Clause 2 (a) of the Perak Darul Ridzuan Government Constitution.

Saarani, 59, was born on March 13, 1961 in Lenggong, Perak .

He married Datin Aezer Zubir, who is a retired teacher and is blessed with eight children.

Saarani obtained a Diploma in Science and Education (Physics and Mathematics) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), then continued his education to a bachelor's degree in human resource management at Open University Malaysia (OUM).

He was the Kota Tampan ADUN for four terms with experience serving the three previous Perak Menteri Besar, namely Tan Sri Tajul Rosli Ghazali, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

This experienced politician was also the Leader of the Opposition in the Perak DUN when Pakatan Harapan took over the administration of the state in 2018.
